THE ENDOWMENT
The Historic Fourth Ward School Endowment marks the dedication to complying with the Covenants between the State of Nevada and the Historic Fourth Ward School Foundation. The Covenants include the agreement to assume the cost of the continued maintenance and repair of the school so as to preserve its architectural, historical, cultural, and archaeological integrity. This agreement is necessary in order to protect and enhance those qualities which make the school historically significant as determined by the State Historic Preservation Office. The Foundation is bound to the Covenants until June 30, 2051.
The endowment fund protects the school for future generations when we are no longer here as its steward. The fund was created in 2004 with donations from the Board of Directors, members, and the Oakmead Foundation. An Endowment Dinner was created as an annual event to celebrate the creation of the fund and to inspire the continued preservation of the school.
In 2005, Robert E. Kendall established the Robert E. Kendall Endowment for the Historic Fourth Ward School with a $100,000 donation. His foresight and spirit reflects his concern for the future of this National Trust Honor Award winning monument to education.
